Biography

After graduating with a Bachelor degree in psychology, Sara pursued her interest in child psychology and graduated from University College London with an MSc in Psychoanalysis and Developmental Psychology. Sara also holds a Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing which allows her to administer, select and evaluate a range of educational tests and assessments.

At Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, she was trained at the Department of Behavioural Medicine, mainly with patients experiencing anxiety, depression and phobias. She applied CBT and mindfulness techniques.  This experience was followed by her work at Montessori Oman where Sara focused on children and adolescents as a Developmental Therapist. The main role she undertook was to support children with adjustment issues and behaviour management. By providing an enriched environ  ment with activities and individualized plans to assist children’s free expression of thoughts, feelings and anxieties; Sara worked alongside the parents to create a more fluid development, incorporating play into therapy, to use the child’s language to communicate effortlessly.

Her approach includes designing, modifying and implementing therapeutic interventions for the child and family to promote functional independence, acquisition of skills, and full participation at home and in community. The focus of the practice is on assisting children’s holistic development, i.e. cognitive, language and communication, social-emotional skills and behaviour skills.
